UNITE THE BAY #StopAsianHate
For Asian American/Pacific Islander Heritage Month, STASHED, a local San Francisco based Streetwear boutique, wanted to give back to the city they call home. So in light of the rising hate crimes against the Asian community, we rallied the city of San Francisco to come together in solidarity to #UniteTheBay.
The initiative lead to a short film/PSA Justin Joo and I directed ourselves featuring Taylor Takahashi (lead actor in Eddie Huang’s directorial debut “Boogie”). And three core actions that brought together small businesses with ‘Signs of Solidarity’, united Asian designers from the Bay Area to design a #StopAsianHate t-shirt collection, and a collaboration with an Oakland bike crew to host a protest to ride out hate.
All proceeds benefitted the Stop AAPI Hate Fund, and the Vietnamese American Community Center of the Eastbay.
